A Weekend in Philadelphia

One of my resolutions for 2012 was to travel more. Forget contributing more to my 401k--this year I was determined to stop hoarding my vacation time like a squirrel amassing acorns and use that time and any extra cash for trips big and small that came up. My general rule was if I could get plane tickets for a decent price and my boss would approve the vacation time, I was going. So there was LA, Boston, New York, Portugal and Barbados. And this past weekend I decided to revisit Philadelphia to celebrate a good friend's birthday as well as spend some time in the city of brotherly love without a work conference to distract me from important things like eating donuts and cheesesteaks.

In a brief 48 hours or so, I managed to scarf down a cheesesteak from Jim's, a brunch at Dandelion, and the lightest, cakey donut dusted with sugar from Federal Donuts. Schlesingers and Di Bruno Bros., I'll be back to check you out again. Here's to the next leg of the exploring the nuances of cheesesteaks and pondering the merits of whiz on top of the steak or whiz on the bread with steak on top. You're more than alright, Philadelphia.
